4.1 Urban Economy and Status of the Town
The town serves as administration and trade center. The average annual revenue of the municipality within the 2005-12 was 3,136040.40 Birr. The major sources of revenue were taxes, rent and service charges. Since the town is included in the reform process investment licenses were issued for 45 investors with over 117 million Birr capital. Bedele has economic linkages with the surrounding areas and towns in the region. The town gets grain products, livestock supply, natural resources (fuel wood, charcoal) from surrounding areas. The town is famous for its special lintel product.
