5.1 Infrastructure

Regarding infrastructure the town has asphalt and gravel roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone, surrounding zones, towns in the region and Addis Ababa. In the town there are 7 main roads while the remaining are secondary, collector and local roads. The distribution of roads as per the materials of construction shows that 6  km are asphalt, 46 km gravel, 3.7 km cobblestone, and 8.042 km compacted earth roads.

The town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid, wireless, mobile and fixed telephone lines, internet services, and a postal service with 260 boxes. The main water supply source of the town is ground water distributed through piped network and 19 public taps (17 taps in urban and 2 taps in rural kebeles). The town has open ditches to discharge storm water.

5.2 Housing

There are 6,649 residential houses in the town. Out of these, 5,572 are private, 573 government and 504 condominium houses. There are 12,800 applicants in the waiting list for housing. Houses were built of dominantly wood and mud walls, Corrugated Iron Sheet (CIS) roofing, cement and mud flooring, polypropylene and chipwood ceiling.

5.3 Transport

There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from 10 towns. There are also 20 Bajaj taxis and 438 horse drown carts giving urban transport service in the town.<
