1.1 Location

Gambella town is located in south western part of Ethiopia, in Gambella Regional State, Gambella Zone at a distance of 777 km from Addis Ababa. Its astronomical location is 8⁰15’ north latitude and 34⁰

55’ east longitude.    

1.2 Foundation

The town was founded in 1911. Gambella town has municipality and 5 kebelles. The town has Integrated Development Plan which was prepared in 2007.
