1.1 Location

Goba town is located in the southern part of Ethiopia in Oromia National Regional State, Bale zone, at a distance of 445 km from Addis Ababa.  

1.2 Foundation

The town was founded in 1891 and got municipal status in 1944. Goba is one of the reform towns in the region and has a city administration, municipality and 2 sub-cities and five kebeles.
