5.1 Infrastructure
Regarding infrastructure the town has five main inlet/outlet roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone, surrounding zones, towns in the region and Addis Ababa. In the town there are 1 km gravel 3 km asphalt, 0.3 km cobble stone, and 16.7 km compacted earth roads.
The town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid, and has wireless, mobile and fixed telephone lines, internet services, and a postal service with 200 boxes. The main water supply source of the town is ground water distributed through piped network and 9 public taps. The town has 10.713 km closed pipes and open ditches to discharge storm water.
5.2 Houses
There are 6,876 regular and 1257 Condominium houses. Houses were built of dominantly stone, mud and Hollow Concrete Blocks (HCB) walls, Corrugated Iron Sheet (CIS) roof, compacted earth and cement flooring, fabrics, chipwood, timber and concrete ceiling.
5.3 Transport
There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from 8 towns (Mekelle, Adigrat, Freweyni, Hawzien, Atsbi, Tsigereda, Agulae & Haikimeshal). The town has a bus station. There are also 59 Bajajs taxis giving intra-urban transport service and 331 horse drown carts for transportation of goods.
