5.1 Infrastructure

Regarding infrastructure the town has asphalt and gravel roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone, surrounding zones. In the town there are 5 main roads while the remaining are secondary, collector and local roads. The distribution of roads as per the materials of construction shows that 5.5 km are asphalt, 1.2 km gravel and 1.2m cobble stone roads.

The town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid and has a digital wireless, mobile and fixed telephone lines, internet services, and a postal service with 100 boxes. Main water supply source of the town is ground water distributed through piped network and 22 public taps. To discharge storm water the town has open and closed ditches.

5.2 Housing

There are 4500 residential houses in the town, while the housing backlog is estimated to be 550. The available construction materials in the town are wood, sand and stone.

5.3 Transport

There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from 12 main towns. The town has a bus station for incoming and outgoing passengers. There are also 81 Bajaj taxis and 50 horse drown carts giving intra-urban transport services in the town.
