Location

     Burayu is located in Oromia National Regional State, Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfine at a distance of 15 km from Addis Ababa. Its astronomical location is 9º02’30’’North Latitude and 38º03’30’’- 38º41’30’’ East Longitude.

Foundation

       The town was founded in 1953.

    Burayu is one of the reform towns in the region and has a city administration, municipality and six kebelles. The town has Integrated Development Plan which was prepared in 2006.
