According to the National Population and Housing census carried out in 2007, the population of the town was 25,578.  Out of these 18099 (51.21%) were males and 12479 (48.79%) were females. Regarding age distribution 47.88% are within the age group of 0-17 years, 50.27% within 18-60 years and 1.85% Within 61 and above years of age.
