5.1 Infrastructure

Regarding infrastructure, the town has asphalt and gravel roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone, surrounding zones, towns in the region and Addis Ababa. In the town there are three main roads while the remaining roads are secondary, collector and local streets. The distribution of roads as per the type of construction materials shows that 15.65  km are asphalt, 24.7 km gravel, 17.4 km cobble stone, and 187.2 km compacted earth roads.

The town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid, and has wireless, mobile and fixed telephone lines, internet services, and a postal service with 450 boxes. The main water supply source of the town is ground water and is distributed through piped network and 29 public taps. The town has closed pipe drainage lines to discharge storm water.

5.2 Housing

There are 10,920 regular and 1257 condominium houses in the town. Houses were dominantly built of stone and Hollow Concrete Block (HCB) walls, Corrugated Iron Sheet (CIS) roofing, cement flooring, fabric and poly propylene sheets ceiling.

5.3 Transport

There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from nine towns. The town has a bus station and also airport. There are also 106 Bajaj taxis and 267 horse drown carts giving intra-urban transport service.
