Regarding infrastructure, the town has asphalt and gravel roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone, surrounding zones, towns in the region and Addis Ababa along with seven outlet /inlet roads. The distribution of roads as per the type of construction materials shows that 75km are gravel, 10.06 km asphalt; 18.287 cobblestone and 150 km compacted earth roads. In addition to these, the town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid, mobile and fixed telephone lines, and has internet services, and a branch postal service. The main water supply source of the town is potable underground water and distributed through piped network and 15 public taps. The town has open ditches and closed pipes for discharging storm water.

5.2 Housing

There are 13,000 houses built of different materials in Aksum town. The housing backlog is estimated to be 1640. Houses were mainly built of stone and Corrugated Iron Sheet. Stone, sand, Hollow Concrete Blocks and bricks are the widely available construction materials in the town 

5.3 Transport

There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from thirteen towns. The town has a bus station and international standard airport. There are also 265 Bajaj, mini bus and automobile taxis and 233 horse-drawn carts for giving intra-urban transport service. Furthermore; Aksum being a tourist destination, has air transport service.
