The planned municipal boundary of Bulen town is 288 ha and has elongated shape. Its altitude is 1,800 – 3,500m above sea level; the mean annual temperature of the town is 34ºC and Mean Annual Rainfall is 1000-1400mm. The dominant soil types in the town are red and brown. The prevailing wind direction is from West to East.
The major natural constraints affecting the future development of the town is flooding in the eastern direction while the manmade constraint is problem of compensation payment.
