1.1 Location

Asossa town is located in Benishangul Gumuz Peoples’ Regional State, in Assosa zone, Assosa Woreda, at a distance of 687 Km from Addis Ababa. Its astronomical location is 10º 00’and 10º 03’ north latitude and 34º 35’ and 34º 39’ east longitude.

1.2 Foundation

Asossa town was founded in 1936. Asossa has a town administration,

municipality and four kebelles. The town has Integrated Development

Plan, which was prepared in 2006.
