5.1 Infrastructure
Regarding infrastructure the town has 4 roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone,
surrounding zones, towns in the region and Addis Ababa. In the town there are 6.709 km
asphalt, 12.4 km gravel, 1.5 km cobble stone, and 46 km compacted earth roads.
The town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid, and has mobile, wireless
and fixed telephone lines, internet services, and a postal service with 150 boxes. The main water supply sources of the town is ground water distributed through piped network and 15 public
taps. the town has open ditches to discharge storm water.
5.2 Housing
There are 4,154 privately owned residential houses and 106 government owned and 168
condominium houses. Houses were dominantly built of wood and mud, stone and mud,
stone and cement, Hollow Concrete Blocks (HCB) walls; Corrugated Iron Sheet (CIS) roofing;
compacted earth, wood, tiles, cement and plastic flooring, fabrics, chip wood, wooden and
concrete ceiling.
5.3 Transport
There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from 11 towns while there are 8 Bajajs taxis
and 25 horse drown carts giving intra-urban transport service. The town has a bus station
and freight terminal.
