1.1 Location

Maychew town is located in northern part of Ethiopia, in Tigray National Regional State, Southern Tigray Zone at a Distance 660 Km from Addis Ababa, and 127 Km from Mekelle the regional capital. Its astronomical location is 12 º 47’ North Latitude & 39 º  32’ East Longitude.

1.2 Foundation

Maychew town was founded in 1892.Maychew is one of the reform towns in the region and has a city administration, municipality and four kebelles. The town has an Integrated Development Plan, which was prepared in 2007.
