4.1 Urban Economy and Status of the Town
The town serves as woreda administration and trade center. There are 276 wholesales; 829 retail trades; 342 service giving organizations; three fuel stations, six garages and 145 different enterprises in the town. There are also five banks & two micro financial institutions in the town. The average annual revenue of the municipality was 31,547,286 Birr and the major sources of revenue were land related taxes.
Tepi has economic linkages with the surrounding areas and cities. The town gets grain products, livestock supply, natural resources (fuel wood, charcoal, surplus Labor and construction materials) from surrounding areas as well as from Gambella and agricultural input from Yeki district as well as manufacturing and commercial products and some construction materials from the town itself while the town serves as tourism, financial institution, tourism, store and market center for other areas.

Education
There are one government and five private kindergartens; four government and three private primary schools; one government secondary school; one government preparatory school; one government TVET and one government in university inTepi town.
Health
In Tepi town, there are nine private clinics; one government health center; one Hospital (under construction) and there are nine pharmacies.
Municipal services
Tepi town has a public meeting hall, abattoir. It has a general market meeting twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, two cattle market meeting on Tuesdays and Saturdays and two daily markets. In addition to these, one open waste disposal site, six public toilets, 17 horse-drown carts giving waste collection services. The liquid waste generated in the town is collected by vacuum truck rented from Jimma town and disposed in the prepared site. There is a green recreation area as a park at two places; one stadium; three play grounds, standard hotels, four semi-standard and 18 bars and restaurants in the town. In the town there is a closed ditch pipe. Regarding religious services, there are four Mosque, 11 Orthodox and six, s and protestant churches in the town respectively.
