5.1 Infrastructure

Adama city has four outlet/inlet roads. The distribution of roads as per the type of construction materials shows that 19.29 km are gravel, 47.27 km Asphalt, 93.29km cobble stone and 281.99 km earth pressed. The city gets 24 hours electric power service from the national grid system and has postal office with 3500 boxes, digital telephone, mobile and internet services. The city’s water source is from Awash River and potable water is delivered through piped system and 156 public water distribution points. The city has closed and open ditch systems for discharging storm water.

5.2 Housing

There are more than 11,138 houses in the town. Houses are mainly constructed of wood and mud. The available construction materials in the city are sand, stone, Hollow Concrete Blocks, gravel and Corrugated Iron Sheet.

5.3 Transport

There is a daily inter-urban bus transport to and from twelve towns. The city has bus station while several Bajaj and minibus taxis and 2000 horse drown-carts give intra- urban transportation service in Adama.
