According to the National Population and Housing Census carried out in 2007, the population of the town was 33,406. Out of this, 16,923 (51%) males and 16,483 (49%) females. Regarding age distribution 12, (38%) were within the age group of 0-15 years, 19,643 (59%) 16-60 years, and 938 (3%) 60 years and above. The population growth rate at medium variant was 2.9%, while household size in the town was calculated to be 5%.
