1.1 Location

Shashemane town is located  in Oromia National Regional State, West Arsi Zone, Shashemane Woreda, at a distance of 250 km from Addis Ababa, Its astronomical location is 7º 12’ North Latitude and 38º 36’ East Longitude.

1.2 Foundation

Shashemane town was founded in 1910.

Shashemane is one of the reform towns in the region and has a city administration, municipality and

eight sub cities and 12 kebelles. The town has a structural plan.
