5.1 Infrastructure
Regarding infrastructure the town has asphalt and gravel roads connecting it to different weredas in the zone, surrounding zones, towns in the region and Addis Ababa. In the town there are five main roads. The distribution of roads as per the type of construction materials shows that 18 km are asphalt, 6.5 km gravel, 24.53 km cobble stone, and 240 km compacted earth roads. The town gets 24 hours electric supply from the national grid, wireless, mobile and fixed telephone lines, internet services, and a postal service with 1400 boxes. The main water supply source of the town are springs and rivers and water is distributed through piped network and 48 public taps. The town has closed and open ditches to discharge storm water.
5.2 Housing
There are 17,188 private and government houses in the town. The housing backlog is estimated to be 1,035. The available construction materials in the town are stone, sand and Hollow Concrete Blocks.
5.3 Transport
There is daily inter-urban transport service to and from 32 towns. The town has a bus station. There are 950 Bajaj taxis and 500 horse drown carts giving intra-urban transport service.
