The area of Debre-zeyit town is 587 ha and has compact shape. Its altitude is 2500m above sea level; the mean annual temperature of the town is 15ºC and Mean Annual Rainfall is 1200-1400 mm. The major soil types in the town are red and brown.
The major natural constraints affecting the future development of the town are the existence of marshy area in the east direction and gorges and flood problem in the western and southern parts.
