According to the National Population and Housing census, in 2007 the population of the town was 25,428. Out of this, 14,364 (56.49%) were males and 11,069 (43.53%) were females. The average household size in the town in the same period was 5.5.

Humera town has a town administration and kebelles. The town has Integrated Development Plan (IDP) which was prepared in 2001.
