Various housing supply strategies are being designed and implemented to address the housing shortage in our country’s cities.

A discussion forum was held in Adama city attended by the head of housing development of the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure regarding the implementation of the bill on the development of the housing development financing system, the decree to regulate the ownership rights of foreign nationals and the regulation of housing rent control and management.

Mr. Abadir Faris, the head of the ministerial office of the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, who was present at the forum and gave the opening speech, said that this year the government is paying special attention to the construction of houses and that extensive work is being done in the private sector using various housing development options.

The chief added that since housing is a basic issue for human beings, it is being done as a country to finance housing development and to continue housing construction.

Mrs. Mulumebet Kebede, head of the Housing Supply and Finance Reform Desk at the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, said that the purpose of the housing development financing system is to ensure the environmental, social and economic development of citizens by making housing financing of good quality and accessible to citizens sustainable.
