Addis Ababa, July 21, 2018 (K.E.M.L.M.) The Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure Development held a felicitation and award program for the members of the Standing Committee on Urban, Infrastructure and Transport Affairs at the House of People’s Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The program was held in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, together with all relevant institutions, to the sector over the past 5 years by monitoring and supporting its strengths and weaknesses, and to improving them, according to the Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, Ms. Chaltu Sani.

The Standing Committee’s continuous support and monitoring has enabled Ethiopian cities to achieve unprecedented levels of digitalization, corridor development, and fast and efficient service delivery. The Standing Committee Chairman, Honorable Professor Mohammed Abdu, said that the success of this achievement was largely due to the leadership of the ministry and relevant institutions working together and working as a team.

The Chairman also said that government officials at all levels, who are leading the institutions, should pay more attention to the overall development of the sector, focusing on budget, technology, and human resources.

The members of the Standing Committee stated in their program that the changes that have occurred in the cities over the past five years are the result of the leadership and all the employees of the sector working together to change the sector and resolve the issues that arise in an appropriate manner, and they urged that this should continue to be strengthened.

The members of the Standing Committee toured the works carried out in the preparatory phase of the Ministry of Public Service and Administration Reform.
