Addis Ababa, November 5, 2019 (Melmi) – A Japanese company interested in engaging in real estate investment in Ethiopia—leveraging the housing development options established to address the country’s housing challenges—has arrived in Ethiopia to conduct a preliminary study and assess the favorable investment climate.

Mr. Toshihiro Onodera, President of Fudosan Joho Bank Co. Ltd., stated that his company intends to enter the real estate sector, potentially through partnerships with other capable firms. He noted that their current visit is aimed at examining the favorable investment opportunities available within Ethiopia’s real estate sector.

Mr. Tsegaye Moshe, the Executive Director for Housing Development at the Ministry, provided a detailed briefing covering several key areas: existing policies for real estate and general housing development; efforts to streamline bureaucratic processes through the use of technology; legal frameworks and policy reforms designed to attract significant foreign investment; and the housing development options and strategic plans formulated by the government. The organization’s president expressed gratitude for the reception accorded to them and the explanations provided, and stated that they plan to hold discussions with the Investment Commission and conduct a field visit.
