A joint forum of public relations and media bodies of all regions, Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa city administrations was held in Adama city.
The discussion forum mainly focused on government service and administration reform and the construction industry transformation initiative.
Ato Abadir Faris, Head of the Office of the Minister of Urban Development and Infrastructure, who delivered a message at the forum, said that the forum will be of great benefit in making the general new legal frameworks drafted by the ministry accessible to the public through the media and public relations structure.
Ato Abadir added that the changes being recorded by the ministry from the federal to the lower structures can be made accessible to the public through the media and communication bodies, so the ministry is working closely with all media bodies.
Ato Adugna Alemu, the Executive Director of Institutional Change at the ministry, presented a document regarding the government service administration reform, and stated that the ministry is working on the preparatory phase of the reform to ensure that the reform is inclusive, free from discrimination, and to provide fast and efficient services to customers in a responsible manner and to provide customers with a modern technology-enabled system.
Although the public service and administration system in our country has been established for many years, the current state of the sector is serious and requires urgent response from this generation in terms of providing the government services that citizens need, establishing fair administration, and being independent and independent, so a new framework for change has been initiated as a country to create problem-solving and effective independent, independent and competent institutions that can contribute significantly to the building of the state, said Ato Adugna.
In a document presented by the Ministry of Construction, Senior Advisor Bekele Nigusse (PhD) regarding the Construction Industry Transformation Initiative, he noted that the sector has been given great attention by the government and is growing rapidly, but he said that there are many challenges and that efforts are being made to replace inputs that require high foreign exchange with domestic products.
The Public Relations and Communication Officer of the Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure, Ato Ethiopia Bedcha, has emphasized that media and communication bodies should use media tools to clearly communicate information to the public about the government service and administration reform and the Construction Industry Transformation Initiative.
We are expected to provide information to the public about the reform and the initiative and promote transparency, educate and inform the public, provide timely information, make information accessible by taking information from accurate sources when it is interpreted in the wrong context, control unverified information, identify opinions and news, follow professional ethics, generally make organized, timely, reliable and transparent information accessible to the public, and ensure accountability, Ato Ethiopia said.
Finally, a common understanding was reached that media and public relations bodies should deliver information to the community in an appropriate manner to implement the national issues presented.
