Addis Ababa, April 15/2018 AD, The first-of-its-kind Addis Africa Regional East Africa Real Estate Expo, organized by the (Kemeli) Real Estate Developers Association in collaboration with Dorca Events and held for four consecutive days from April 15 to 18/2018 AD at the Science Museum, was officially opened today with the presence of the State Minister of Urban Development and Infrastructure, H.E. Helen Debebe, as the guest of honor.

In her opening speech, H.E. Helen stated that the construction and real estate developers have made a significant contribution to the national development projects carried out in the construction sector, including corridor development, and the creation of employment opportunities in the past 8 years of change.

The Honorable Minister of State, who stated that the relationship between real estate developers and buyers was unreliable due to the lack of a national legal framework governing the sector, said that the government has issued a proclamation to permanently resolve the problem. The programs to be guided by the proclamation are being formulated and when the proclamation is fully implemented, the capacity of developers will be enhanced, the rights of buyers will be respected and there will be a good relationship that will create trust between sellers and buyers, he said.

He also stated that the Ethiopian Real Estate Developers Association has carried out many activities within one year of its establishment, and that this exhibition was organized in a way that involved developers from other African countries to exchange good practices; He said that the fair is of great importance because it helps to enable modern housing development, to solve the problems of the sector, to restore its former reputation, to expand investment opportunities, to increase national development and job creation, and to accelerate our country’s journey of development and change.

Finally, he called on non-members of the association to join the association quickly and for all associations in the sector to strengthen their unity, so that the sector can grow to a higher level and realize the planned housing development program nationwide in the shortest possible time.

The fair was attended by senior industry officials, the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Ethiopia, members of the African Real Estate Developers Association, financial institutions, real estate developers, construction material suppliers, and invited guests. The exhibition, organized by more than 30 real estate developers, was officially inaugurated and opened.
