Kombolcha, 25 February 2018.Mt (from.D.Le.Mi), an exchange of experiences that would enable the coordination of rural centers and corridor development, took place in the town of Kombolcha, starting the Chorilla Rural Kebele centers in Kala District in the South Wollo Zone.

In this exchange of experience, the Amhara National Regional Government, the South Wollo Zone Administration and the government officials of the Central Ethiopia Region participated in the visits and exchange of experience in rural centers

Tsegaye Moshe, lead executive director of housing development at the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, said on the experience exchange platform that the government is working intensively to implement rural centers and corridor development through a coordinated system with all stakeholders to improve the livelihoods of both the city and rural communities

He said the benefits of the transition of rural centers construction being able to make a living in a modern way by bringing together a dispersed farmer in a single center to provide the so-called necessary governmental services and infrastructure, ensuring that citizens are protected by his livable and interesting health and implementing packages of urban agriculture through roads, water, electricity, and urban agriculture are extremely significant

Grace added that this principle would allow the rural community to live a stable life due to the nature of local employment opportunities, instead of migrating to the city, creating jobs in the area and maintaining its social, economic and civilized cultural value as homeowners

Problems from participants regarding the integration of rural kebel centers with corridor development include the inability of rural centers to work together as soon as they are built and completed, particularly water, electricity, roads, health thawmas, the lack of schools maintaining their standards, the presence of a gap in terms of the infrastructure being built, the need for a future focus to be put on as it would be challenging for its effectiveness, and the need to maintain the culture and values of the communities

A tour was held by participants of the Korydern and Rural Center of Chorysa 06, a rural kebel in Qalu District in the Amhara National Regional Government in the South Wollo Zone.
