Addis Ababa, April 12, 2018 (Kemeli) The corridor development that has been launched in Addis Ababa city has significantly changed the face of cities and has also included housing development.
The State Minister of Urban Development and Infrastructure, H.E. Helen Debebe, chaired a panel discussion on housing development policy and corridor development. She said that the government has paid special attention to the housing issue and is working to make 1.5 million houses accessible in five years to benefit low and middle-income residents in particular.
We will not stop at Basheger urbanization. Our country is at a high growth rate, she said.
The Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Honorable Engineer Wondimu Seta, said that the corridor development in Addis Ababa City was implemented for the first time because Addis Ababa is the capital of Ethiopia, the capital of Africa, a diplomatic seat, and an economic hub.
In his presentation on the housing development policy, Ato Tsegaye Moshe, the Chief Executive Officer of Housing Development at the Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure, explained that housing is a manifestation of identity and human dignity, and the housing development policy includes financing, land, the use of construction technology, accessibility, housing management information, and the creation of a strong and reliable housing system.
