Hosanna, December 22/2018, (From Melmi)

In addition to the discussions held in the hall of the Rural Transformation Framework Rural Housing and Infrastructure Development Forum, a visit was made to the corridor development works and other projects built in Hosanna town. On the second day, a visit was made to the model farmer housing villages built in Hadiya Zone, Limo Woreda, Dibancho Rural Kebele Center of the Central Ethiopian Region, under the initiative of His Excellency Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).

The corridor development and other projects built in Hosanna town have created a surprise for the visitors. It is clear from the visit that the region has been able to organize itself and bring about all these changes in a short period of two and a half years since its establishment. The region was able to celebrate this year’s closing ceremony of the Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day because of its capacity building.

The model villages include various gardens and fruits, beekeeping, chicken farming, and dairy farming; they have a complete life like a family living in a city. They have three bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen, and they also have a bathroom and toilet. They also have a complete 24-hour electricity service powered by biogas. They have a modern lifestyle. They are residential villages equipped with the necessary materials for their homes. Following this, the leaders stated that they have a plan to realize one rural center in each woreda in the future.
The visitors from the country’s regions, zones, and city administrations who participated in the visit were not only amazed by what they saw, but also deeply inspired, stating that they are ready to put the experience they gained into practice. Since this was the purpose of the visit, the forum and the visit fully achieved its purpose.
