Addis Ababa, January 13, 2018 (Wednesday) The Minister of Urban Development and Infrastructure, Honorable Minister Chaltu Sani, held discussions with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ethiopia on the participation in the 13th World Cities Forum to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 24, 2026, European Standard Time.

They also discussed the possibility of the Ministry of Urban Affairs presenting the experience of Ethiopian cities at the forum.

The World Cities Forum is held every two years and this year’s host country is Azerbaijan, while the host city is Baku, and the coordinator of the forum is UN Habitat.

Ethiopia hosted the first African Urban Forum in Addis Ababa in May 2016 and hosted the 10th African Urban Forum in Semera, Afar National Regional State

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Chaltu Sani, said that if Ethiopia were to present its experience at the international level, it would be a demonstration of the rapid development work that the country has started.

Ambassador Ruslan Nasibov said that the Ministry will use the opportunity to present its experience and expertise to the international conferences and urban infrastructure projects that Ethiopia will organize in the future.
