Legal Service Executive

Introduction

The Legal Service Executive within the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure (MUI) of Ethiopia is responsible for providing specialized legal services to assist the ministry in executing its powers and duties. This includes drafting legislations, providing legal advice and consultations, representing the ministry in court, and conducting training and awareness sessions on legal matters.

    • Legal Representation:

      The executive represents the ministry in court litigation and other legal proceedings, including administrative and regulatory hearings. 

       
    • Compliance and Monitoring:

      They ensure that the ministry adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and monitor the ministry’s compliance with legal obligations. 

       
    • Training and Awareness:

      The executive conducts training and awareness sessions on legal issues relevant to urban and infrastructure development, promoting a legal culture within the ministry. 

       
    • Dispute Resolution:

      They utilize alternative dispute resolution methods to address or facilitate the resolution of conflicts or potential disputes between the ministry and external parties. 

       
    • Capacity Building:
      They contribute to the capacity building of urban human resources by preparing policies, strategies, and legal frameworks, ensuring the professional competence of staff in legal matters

    Legal Advice and Consultation:

    The executive provides legal advice to the ministry’s management and staff on various legal issues related to urban and infrastructure development, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
