Adama, February 16, 2018 (K.M.L.M.) The Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure Development conducted a training on sector-based anti-corruption efforts, especially for regional heads of the sector, as well as senior leaders of the institution and affiliated institutions, on decision-making and conflict of interest, organized by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Minister of Urban Development and Infrastructure, Ms. Chaltu Sani, said that the sector should eliminate conflicts of interest in the services provided in cities and that the leadership at all levels should serve all citizens fairly and responsibly by cleansing itself of corruption.
The Honorable Minister added that citizens should free themselves from corruption through ethics and complaint handling, prevention and management of conflicts of interest, and focus on good governance problems in cities and work on activities that benefit the country and the people. He said that we should serve urban residents honestly and faithfully.
Assistant Professor Yohannes of the Ethiopian Public Service University and Yusuf Ibrahim (PhD) of Jimma University provided training to leaders on conflict of interest and decision-making.
The training stated that when providing services in the construction industry, land sector, municipal services and housing provision, we must eliminate conflicts of interest, prioritize public interests in decision-making, or fulfill our duties as leaders, and provide appropriate services to citizens fairly.
It was also stated in the training that all leaders must have integrity, serve impartially, be accountable, be loyal, respect citizens, respond quickly, and perform other good deeds to prevent conflicts of interest.
To address this problem, it was stated that the leaders should register their assets, support families, educate, take preventive administrative measures, and use other preventive measures to fulfill their responsibilities.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Ato Fikadu Soboka, urged leaders at all levels in cities to fulfill their responsibilities according to the training provided.
