Arba Minch, June 20, 2018 (Kemeli) The 2018 Budget Year Sector Conference was held in Arba Minch city, attended by senior leaders of the ministry, heads of departments of all regions, and heads of relevant institutions.
Minister of Urban and Infrastructure Development, Honorable Chaltu Sani, who attended the discussion forum, said that it is a good opportunity and opportunity to move the country’s cities to a better level of development.
The Honorable Minister said that the development opportunities of cities should be utilized and the leadership of any city should pay attention to them.
The Minister said that urban development is a multi-sectoral activity and therefore requires the coordination, integration and cooperation of industrial, market, social and economic infrastructure and services, both internally and externally, and in collaboration with each other.
Among the many tasks that the institution focuses on and carries out are ensuring food security in cities, promoting land development and management that is transparent, accountable and equitable, changing the appearance of cities, implementing housing development programs related to making residents homeowners, and creating competitive cities that meet international standards, the Minister said.
The Honorable Minister stated that greater efforts are being made than in the past years to ensure that cities and municipal services are planned and maintained, that services are provided and updated properly, and that residents’ satisfaction is improved, that urban infrastructure is expanded, and that good governance is promoted, thereby accelerating economic and social development.
The Honorable Minister stated that it is a good opportunity and a good opportunity to move the country’s cities to a better level of development, and that this good opportunity for urban development should be taken advantage of and implemented by any city leadership.
The Mayor of Arba Minch, Kebur Mesfin Menza (Dr.), who welcomed the guests, said that Arba Minch is not only a city blessed with natural attractions and a city of peace and love, but also a city of love. He called on citizens both at home and abroad to invest their resources in the city as it is an era of urban development.
The State Minister of the Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure, Hon. Ato Fenta Dejen, presented the overall performance of the 2018 budget year and the plan direction for the next 2019 budget year.
He said that cities are recording significant growth with the monitoring and support provided by the Ministry to all regions.
He said that the growth recorded in corridor development, Lemat Turfat, Gebeta Le Hager, and the construction industry is due to the fact that the city leadership has been able to focus more on urban work than in previous years.
The new urban development policy was presented and discussed by Aman Assefa (PhD), Executive Director of Policy and Strategy Research and Development at the Ministry of Education.
Finally, the program was completed by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education, Education and Culture, and the Ministry of Education, Education and Culture.
