Addis Ababa: January 5, 2018 (K.M.L.M.)

The integrated model village built by the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure under the Winter Volunteer Service Program was officially inaugurated on December 29, 2018 by His Excellency Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) and handed over to the beneficiaries.

In this regard, the Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, Ms. Chaltu Sani, gave a press release to various media outlets on January 5, 2018.

The Ministry, in collaboration with various stakeholders and relevant institutions, officially inaugurated and handed over to the beneficiaries an integrated model village that will benefit 150 citizens.

The Minister mentioned that the integrated model residential village was handed over to the beneficiaries in the South West Shewa Zone, Sebeta Hawas Woreda, and Tulu Arara City of the Oromia National Regional State. The model village is comfortable, clean, suitable for living, equipped with internal roads, using electricity and solar power, equipped with sports facilities, using urban agriculture to sustainably improve the living standards of the residents, and an integrated system that includes a production and marketing chain has been established.

The Minister of Energy added that the Ministry has previously constructed and handed over houses with all infrastructures to the low-income, vulnerable, and disabled people in Harar city, Mekelle, and Sekota.

The Honorable Ms. Chaletu said that the only way to ensure that the citizens of the country have patriotism, preserve Ethiopian culture and values, and pass them on from generation to generation is to ensure that the wealthy with their wealth, and the knowledgeable with their knowledge, by coordinating with the government, and by ensuring the needs of citizens living in low-income areas, and thus achieving a complete journey of prosperity. She said that many citizens are becoming owners of quality housing through the work being done to extend the corridor development that began in Addis Ababa to all cities of the country.
