The large-scale urban and corridor development work that Ethiopia is carrying out is a historic step taken to improve the living standards of citizens, not only changing the appearance of the country but also changing the appearance of poverty that has been associated with cities for a long time and making them comfortable and attractive for their residents. The government has been able to work by allocating a large budget and organizing human resources.
In particular, the infrastructure development, urban renewal, beautification works, redevelopment of historical sites and heritage maintenance, and corridor development works are prominent.
The coordinated efforts made in infrastructure development projects to provide the community with clean drinking water, improved roads, a standard healthcare system, quality education, and power supply are effective and demonstrate the government’s great efforts to respond to the infrastructure development demands raised by the community.
On the other hand, under the guidance of Honorable Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), many development projects have been carried out in the past eight years of change, and urban beautification is one of the most widely implemented and prominent projects.
In particular, the focus given to corridor development and urban renewal projects has been implemented not only in major cities in Ethiopia, but also in 78 cities.
The development of the corridor has not only transformed the backward lifestyle of the cities in the country, but has also contributed to the creation of a modern lifestyle, climate protection, change in attitude, job creation, creating a comfortable living environment, attracting tourists and enabling a healthy society. In this way, it has become a source of pride for the citizens, not to mention fulfilling their aspirations for a better life. In addition, it has also gained the appreciation and testimony of citizens of other countries.
The restoration or renovation of heritage sites while preserving their historical values has enabled them to increase their tourism attractions by enhancing the beauty of the cities and passing them on to future generations. This has created a situation where many tourists can extend their stay in Ethiopia and earn a high income.
It is necessary to focus more on consolidating these achievements of prosperity. Citizen participation is also crucial to achieving Ethiopia’s African prosperity model and vision, so it is necessary to contribute more than ever to the spirit of cooperation and to make Ethiopia’s future path of success a reality.
Overall, Ethiopia’s journey to urban prosperity has been undertaken with the future generations in mind, and the government, by combining digital technology and modern practices, ensures that our cities will continue to strengthen their efforts to become not only tourist and investment destinations, but also centers of job creation, convenience, and a source of pride for residents.
