ceremony of the 10th Ethiopian Cities Forum, which was held in Semera Logia city since November 6. The closing ceremony was held today in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, His Excellency Ato Temesgen Tiruneh, the President of the Afar Regional State, His Excellency Haji Awol Arba, the Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, His Excellency Ms. Chaltu Sani, and representatives of participating cities. At the same time, His Excellency Ms. Chaltu Sani said that among the main areas of focus, she mentioned the modernization of the service sector; urban safety net and food security; housing development; land infrastructure development and job creation; and the implementation of the urban land, plan, and cadastre system.

In this regard, he said: – The time we are living in is a time when our world is moving at a seemingly miraculous pace of change; cities and urbanism are seen as the starting point of this change and the symbol of its peak.

As part of the process, we have been paying attention at the government level to move along with the change, formulating policies, setting goals, and working; we have also achieved exemplary results.

Therefore, since our work is closely linked to the daily life and livelihood of the community and requires sufficient attention and monitoring, I would like to express that modernizing the service sector requires special attention.

Regarding the work of urban safety net and food security, he stated that it is playing a major role in supporting urban residents below the poverty line in the current context of inflation and cost of living.

Another issue they focused on was housing development, which has seen impressive results in expanding housing development options and allowing private developers to participate widely, and in addition, by setting a direction for working in associations, government and investor partnerships, as well as other modalities, they have started to work.

Regarding the expansion of green infrastructure, great success has been achieved, and the job opportunities and change in mindset that are being created for citizens in connection with green development projects have made us look to the future with greater hope, he said.

Another of our main tasks is to carry out works that will allow our land resources to contribute to the economic and social development of our country by managing our urban land use plan and land development and cadastre system in a modern information system (cadastre) supported manner.

Also, when we look at our construction industry work, despite its global impact, it is a sector that is facing many complex problems, but many works have been done to solve the problems in the sector and to manage the sector better, he said.
