Bishoftu, October 11, 2019 (Melmi) – It has been announced that the pan-African “Mayors of Africa” forum is taking place in the cities of Bishoftu and Addis Ababa, starting October 11, 2019, and continuing over the coming days, covering a variety of topics.
This continental forum involves mayors from over 55 African cities as well as mayors from 15 domestic cities; it is designed to facilitate the exchange of experiences based on the evolving changes occurring in urban areas.
During the launch event, Bishoftu Mayor Alemayehu Assefa showcased the city’s development projects, the transformation brought about by corridor development, and the job opportunities created—highlighting the overall changes visible in the city. The mayor added that, during their stay, the participants would tour the city to observe various program venues and infrastructure facilities. According to Dr. Yared Teshome, Coordinator of the African Mayors Forum, the forum is anchored in three objectives: empowering mayors, enabling cities to utilize digital technologies, and transforming them into economic hubs.
The forum will take place over several consecutive days, featuring various programs held in the cities of Bishoftu and Addis Ababa.
