The Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure held the first round of the discussion forum under the theme “Conference at the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure” to discuss in depth the strategic missions of the sector and strengthen the relationship with the key stakeholders of the sector.
The conference is a platform aimed at transferring knowledge between the senior leaders of the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, experts in the sector and stakeholders.
An in-depth discussion was held on the mission and future directions of the sector within the vision of integration.
Speaking at the forum, the Honorable Minister explained the role of the urban and infrastructure sector in the vision of the Medemer government, saying that the forum is different from all the discussions held so far, and that the discussion forum that began today and will continue to focus on various topics and be strengthened every month is a way to accelerate our journey to ensure the inevitable development of cities by bringing about a change in thinking and attitudes.
In connection with this, she explained that the world is the result of ideas and that the ideas generated by individuals can be transferred to the country, institutions and people and help increase the national capacity to implement them, and that the initiatives that were designed and implemented by the Honorable Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and that have shown tangible results have completely changed the ideas that existed before the reform government.
How can Medemer be explained in our sector? What is the vision of the new government? What is expected of whom in terms of implementing this fundamental visionary change on the ground? What should be done to fill the coordination gap? What should our project management look like to complete projects with quality, speed, and reasonable cost? What is being done to achieve the goals set in the budget year? What should be done in terms of creating a comfortable working environment and communication? Questions related to related issues were asked by the panelists and they provided detailed explanations on the issues raised.
Finally, after responding to the questions and comments raised by the panelists in the joint discussions, they summarized their comments starting from the preparation of the policy framework (the new urban development policy); The Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure has conveyed its message that by bringing about a change in attitude and supporting the sector with technology to fully utilize the opportunities brought by the Government Service and Administration Reform and the Construction Industry Transformation Initiative, the government, private sector actors, urban residents and our entire society will come together, come together, cooperate and take advantage of the opportunity given to us, and work with full faith and a sense of ownership to realize a prosperous Ethiopia.
