Addis Ababa, August 5, 2018 (Xinhua) — The Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure and the relevant institutions have presented a summary report of the preparatory phase of the Wave Two Public Service and Administration Reform, which has been underway for the past one year, to various ministries under the coordination of the Civil Service Commission.
Regarding the completion of the preparatory phase of the reform, the Minister of Urban Development and Infrastructure, Her Excellency Ms. Chaltu Sani, said that leaders and experts at all levels of the institution have been able to build great capacity through this reform and that preparations have been made to address the fundamental problems of the sector, noting that the ministry is working with relevant institutions to bring about rapid development in cities.
The Honorable Minister further stated that the reform will have a great impact on making the country’s cities a symbol of prosperity by providing fast, efficient, accountable services to urban residents across the country, and solving the problems of good governance through digitalization.
The discussion was held by senior leaders and technical committees of the Ministry, as well as leaders of relevant institutions. The committee members from the Civil Service Commission, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Education presented and discussed the summary report of the preparatory phase of the reform that has been underway for about a year.
The committee personally observed the preparatory phase works and studies carried out by the institution over the past twelve months.
