The Public Service and Administration Reform Subcommittee of the sector held a discussion today to assess the progress of the reform study documents prepared from December 1-8, 2018.

The performance review was conducted in the presence of the members of the Subcommittee, which included the Ministry and the three responsible institutions (Ethiopian Roads Administration, Construction Management Institute, and Ethiopian Construction Authority). The performance review conducted showed that the work done so far is at a similar level, as indicated in the report.

In the joint discussion held on the basis of the report, the work is not progressing at the expected pace in terms of the time set, so we need to move at a pace that compensates for the time it took to understand the work, said the Chairman of the Abiy Committee, Honorable State Minister Yetmegeta Asrat (Dr.).

For the effectiveness of the implementation of the government service and administration reform required by the Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure and the hierarchical structure, it is necessary to create a conducive environment for the employees, stakeholders and executive bodies to have sufficient understanding and play their part in the success of the implementation; for this, it is necessary to use the available resources and human resources effectively, so that the issue should be viewed in a broader perspective, and plans should be prepared and implemented weekly, and the status of the work should be evaluated weekly. A direction containing 9 key points has also been set.
