Addis Ababa, August 13, 2018 (Xinhua) — The Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure has signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to work together on capacity building, urban planning and urban monitoring systems.
The agreement was signed by the State Minister of the Ministry of Urban Development, Hon. Ato Fenta Dejen, and the Chief Representative of Ethiopia to JICA, Mr. Yakushi Hiroyuki.
Regarding the agreement, the State Minister, Hon. Ato Fenta Dejen, said that the governments of Ethiopia and Japan have developed relations in cultural, economic, political and social areas for many years and that the ministry is ready to work with JICA coordinators in the future work on comprehensive urban planning.
Mr. Yakushi Hiroyuki said that for the past five years, the organization has been working to implement technology-based information management in cities and towns by providing training to sector leaders and experts, and exchanging experiences both domestically and internationally.
