The non-governmental development organization Helvetas Ethiopia, which has built 250 suspension bridges in the five regions where the project has been implemented in cooperation with other international development partners to make services accessible by connecting rural districts with neighboring districts and cities through suspension bridges for the past 20 years, has been giving two days to 25 information technology and engineering experts from the ministry and the regions. Completion of training and delivery of the rich system by Wisdom Enterprise under Bahardar University.
At the same time, the chief executive officer of the National Infrastructure Coordination of the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, Tewodros Tegele, who was present at the program, said that the main objective of the program is to announce the handover of the suspension bridge asset management system, which is developed by the cooperation of development partners and Wisdom Enterprise and is owned and managed by the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure. They also conveyed their message from the trust to turn the knowledge they have acquired into concrete truth.
Ato Tewodros added that we have started the work but not finished it. He said that we will make the system a reality by solving the problems we face in the future together.
The members of the Wisdom Enterprise research group also provided detailed information about the rich asset management system and stated that they will work closely and coordinate with the Ministry until the system is implemented and the desired results are achieved and they are ready to fulfill their social responsibility.
Helvetas Ethiopia’s development partner organization teams also stated that they have done effective work on suspension bridge works in Ethiopia, from studying to develop the system, from providing training to increase the capacity of experts, to the purchase of technological equipment that will help make the system a reality. They demanded that plans be implemented.
Finally, the coordinator of Rural Development Linkage for Food Security Program, Mr. Mohammad Amin Adam, said that the government has started to pay special attention to the road sector, and that there are plans to build 373 suspension bridges in the next five years, and that 202 suspension bridges transferred from the past will also be built. He said that bridge construction will be implemented in all regions and Dredawa city administration.
Finally, although the development of the system took time, they expressed their happiness that they were able to see it completed today.
