Adama, February 17/2018, (From the press)

The Honorable Minister of State made this statement at the opening ceremony of the Urban Development Safety Net and Work Project’s first half-year performance review and the 3rd round of additional financial support announcement forum for the 2018 fiscal year.

Stating that there is no country in the world that is more prosperous in terms of longevity, the Honorable Minister of State said that the only difference is that it is able to use the grants received to bring about change.

In the works carried out so far, the beneficiaries of the program have received training and job placements in areas such as cleanliness and beauty, small infrastructure development, etc. The results obtained through the work are exemplary, and by continuing to strengthen this, improving the issues raised in the shortage, and taking and implementing the given directions of focus, it should be an expected task for all of us to move from being a beneficiary to a producer in a short time.

The Honorable Minister of State emphasized that the results obtained through the effective work carried out have been accepted by a third party, and that additional support can be obtained, and that the $2.5 million grant from the World Bank should be guided by strong discipline in a manner that complies with the criteria of the beneficiaries and is ethical.

Following his opening speech, the forum presented the 3rd round of additional financial support and the Audit Findings Report of the Chief Auditor and the Independent Procurement Audit Report of the World Bank, and a joint discussion was held on the documents presented.

Next, a joint discussion will be held on the problems encountered in the recruitment and grievance redressal activities of the project and the next steps. Following this, field monitoring and support findings reports from the cities included in the program will be presented for joint discussion and conclusion.
