Adama, May 27, 2018 (Kemeli) The Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure’s Construction Industry Development Executive Director is providing capacity building training on safety in modern construction work and the Kaizen concept to construction contractors, professional associations and consultants engaged in the construction sector in Adama city.

The aim of the training is to create a complete understanding of Kaizen and its implementation, to improve work culture, to increase employee motivation, and to build institutions that are constantly changing, as well as to focus on safety at work.

Regarding the Kaizen vision, Ms. Genet Debebe, a consultant and researcher at the Kaizen Center of Excellence, said that Kaizen is a continuous, participatory, incremental change that works without significant investment.

She added that Kaizen is about improving existing conditions, technologies, management guidelines, and process levels to ensure their continuity and to increase their efficiency over time.

In his presentation on the topic of identifying and preventing waste in the workplace, Ato Dereje Arage, a consultant and researcher at the Kaizen Center of Excellence, said that it is necessary to eliminate unnecessary costs and things that do not add any value to the work in the construction industry.

Ato Dereje added that physical injuries to the employee, property damage to the organization, and damages to the user after the work is completed are among the wastes.

It was understood from the training program that training will be provided tomorrow focusing on topics such as workplace organization and workplace safety.
