The Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure presented the 2018 Budget Half-Year Plan Performance Report of the Ministry, which was attended by the management members of the ministry, sector leaders and experts, and heads of relevant institutions.

The Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, Honorable Ms. Chaltu Sani, who opened the forum with a speech, said that the ministry will focus on the implementation of the first half-year plan of the sector, identifying what each sector has planned and implemented, and identifying its strengths and weaknesses, and will work on it in the next half-year.

He said that since the change government, the urban development sector has been paying special attention to cities and has seen great revival and is at a high level of development.

The Minister said that the coordination of institutions, departments, leadership and systems is an issue that needs attention, and the reform of government services and administration should be given special attention.

The Minister of State for Urban Administration and Service Delivery, Hon. Ato Fenta Dejen, presented the work done in the first half of the year on municipal service delivery, urban finance and revenue reform, urban sanitation and green development services, urban development safety net program, urban planning and monitoring system, and urban land administration and cadastre system.

The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Helen Debebe, on her part, presented the housing development policy, including the Urban Housing Development Program, Rural Housing Development Program, Housing Information and Management Program, Coordinated Field Monitoring and Support, and Design Preparation Works for Housing Development and Management Works, Government-Coordinated Housing, Private Sector-Constructed Housing, Rural Center Housing Development, Housing Development Finance, Housing Information Management, Real Property Transactions and Valuation, Urban Infrastructure Works, and Green Infrastructure and Corridor Works.

The Minister of State for Infrastructure, Hon. Yetmegeta Asrat (Dr.), similarly presented the performance of the sector’s projects for the first half of the 2018 fiscal year, including road construction performance, road maintenance performance, boundary enforcement performance, capital budget utilization, road fund six-month revenue performance, rural road connectivity for food security program, institution building, general reform work, industrial competitiveness and efficiency, and construction excellence, and similar work performance.

Finally, the evaluation forum concluded with the conclusion and direction of the next work by Hon. Minister Chaltu Sani, and the city road project was visited.
