The Public Relations and Communication Executive of the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure has a significant role in making the public information owners, participants and beneficiaries of development, so the creation of a common platform to strengthen the unity of action and information flow of the public relations structure and the media body will not only renew the spirit of cooperation with the regions and city administrations, but also facilitate the flow of information.

According to Ato Beyene Melese, representative of the Minister’s Office, who opened the sectoral media and communication forum with a speech, urban development works are multifaceted and interconnected.

Ato Beyene said that such consultation forums have a significant role to play in ensuring that these mutually reinforcing sectoral activities are properly communicated to the lower levels of the structure and that information flows are accessible, so they play a major role.

Housing Development Chief Executive Officer Ato Tsegaye Moshe said regarding the housing development policy that one of the basic needs of humanity is the need for housing or shelter. The government believes that the policy is necessary to meet this need and respond to the housing development needs of the community, so the new housing development policy has been approved and implemented.

Ato Tsegaye explained that the key outcomes of the policy are balanced housing demand and supply, improved and reliable housing market system, improved rural housing standards, developed institutional capacity and information management system.

The Executive Director of Housing Development, Housing Development Research and Private Sector Participation Desk, Ato Tafese Nega, for his part, presented a detailed account of Proclamation 1388/18, which was issued to facilitate the acquisition of housing by foreign nationals.

He explained to the forum participants the prerequisites that must be met under the Proclamation, including name and nationality, as well as legal documents proving identity, not having a criminal record, restrictions and principles related to national peace, security, safety and related issues.

In conclusion, the Public Relations and Communication Executive of the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, Ato Ethiopia Bedcha, said that the urban and infrastructure development sector is a broad sector that includes the entire structure, and the media and communication structure plays a significant role in making information accessible to the public in an appropriate manner.

Since we have the responsibility to make the national sector accessible, we must pay due attention to the policies, proclamations and decrees issued by the government (ministry) and introduce them to the public and clear up any confusion that may arise, said Ato Ethiopia.

The new housing development policy has been designed and implemented with great attention at the government level to meet the high housing demand, so it will solve housing development problems and answer the people’s questions in the coming years.
