Addis Ababa, June 29, 2018 (From Melmi) The Construction Industry Development Executive of the Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure is making efforts to support local construction technology manufacturers in the regions and city administrations.

In this regard, Getachew and Natnael Creative Union Partnership Association is an association that is organized in small and medium-sized enterprises and works to produce, use and distribute a portable modern patent-protected WC (Toilet Seat With Afloating Mechanism) toilet that also provides services to people with disabilities. This technology was observed by the leaders and experts of the organization.

As it was seen during the visit, the toilets were made with local innovations and were used for the disabled, pregnant women and people with disabilities, as well as in densely populated areas, and they were also mobile.

The toilets will not only provide extensive services to the elderly and disabled in the relief centers where the majority of the population lives, but will also greatly facilitate the lives of the community by making them accessible in the cities where the corridor development has been implemented.

During the visit, the State Minister of the Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure, His Excellency Khalid Abdurahman, said that the innovative work done is encouraging and that it is necessary to work widely and expand its supply to areas where it is needed.

As our ministry, we will not only work on creating awareness on various platforms, but also provide all the support we can, he said.

Engineer Mulualem Debebe, the Chief Executive Officer of the Construction Industry Development Department at the Ministry of Urban Development and Infrastructure, said that the innovative work creates wide job opportunities and reduces the burden of the user as it is easy to use.

He said that they should meet the standards in terms of quality and aesthetics, adding that they are innovative products that benefit the disabled and pregnant women, and that they are also encouraged to be portable.
