Addis Ababa, November 4, 2019 (Melmi) – A discussion was held between the State Minister for the Housing and Urban Development Sector at the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure and the lead executives of the sector’s various departments. The discussion focused on the 2019 fiscal year plans and the performance reports for the first quarter.
Reports were presented by the lead executives responsible for Housing Development, Urban Infrastructure, and Real Property Transactions, Valuation, and Licensing. The session was designed to foster a deeper understanding of the sector and to ensure effective performance in the coming period.
Mr. Berhanu Zewde, State Minister for the Housing and Urban Development Sector at the Ministry of Urban and Infrastructure, provided feedback based on the plans and reports submitted by the respective departments.
He noted that the second and third quarters represent critical implementation phases. He emphasized the need to incorporate initiatives—aligned with the “Medemer” (synergy/addition) philosophy—that address the challenges faced by individual citizens. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of ensuring that planning and reporting processes are well-integrated and mutually reinforcing. The Honorable State Minister stated that it is necessary to coordinate efforts with the regions, city administrations, and various sectors; to identify tasks that require special attention; and to carry out work befitting the Ministry.
