Adama, May 28, 2018 (From Melmi) The capacity building training provided to construction contractors, professional associations and consultants on various topics in the construction industry sector has been completed.

It has been understood that providing capacity building training to the sector’s stakeholders is one of the main activities planned by the Construction Industry Development Executive.

In this regard, the Construction Industry Development Executive at the Ministry, Engineer Mulualem Debebe, said that since the construction industry is a place where a lot of resources are mobilized and vast job opportunities are created, there is a movement to do better work by working together with the government and the private sector and using various technologies.

He also stated that the Ethiopian Construction Data Management System, which will store general construction data, will be implemented next year.

Addis Ababa Housing Deputy Bureau Chief Engineer Mekonnen Tebu (PhD) said that wastes observed in each construction should be identified and corrected. He said that issues such as zoning and financial problems are being addressed in Addis Ababa City.

The participants raised other ideas such as, for the strengthening of construction contractors and professional associations, if projects are given to local contractors instead of foreign contractors and if capacity building training related to the work is provided, better changes can be made.
