1.1 Location
Bishoftu is located in Oromia National Regional State, East Shewa Zone at a distance of 47 Km from Addis Ababa. Its astronomical location is 8º 43’- 8º 45’ North Latitude & 38º 56’- 39º 01’ East Longitude.
1.2 Foundation
The town was founded in 1917. Bishoftu is one of the reform towns in the region and has a city administration, municipality and
nine kebelles. The town has a structure plan which was prepared in 2010.
